1  General Category / Miscellaneous / Good PC Tuner Card?

My Panasonic DMR-E85H DVR just died.  I'm thinking of replacing it with a PC.  Does anyone know of a good TV tuner card?  Preferably one that can receive digital and analog signals and works with Windows Media Center.  Thanks!

Thanks for trying out the product, astanley.  Yes, I think it should be possible to add the number of items for each folder.  I'll see if we can get that into a release soon.

Excellent application! Please keep up the development.  Would it be possible to identify empty directories and/or the number of items in each folder?  I think that would be very useful.  Thanks so much.

Ok, so I guess that answers my question, "How the heck do you select multiple folders in Outlook to move them to another folder?" It's pretty annoying that Outlook doesn't allow this by itself, but this addon seems to do the trick.

Have you ever needed to move multiple folders in Outlook at one time?  Perhaps you wanted to delete many but not all of your folders that were in your Deleted Items?

I ran into this myself and found it surprisingly difficult to do; there didn't seem to be any way to do it with Outlook other than to go one by one!

Now there's an easier way with the new Pandali Folder Master for Outlook.  The current version is a BETA version.

If you find you need to manipulate your Outlook folders in batches, please give it a try and let us know here in the forum or here how it went!  If you have similar issues with Outlook, let us know that too.

You can download the Folder Master for Outlook here.

Thanks, and enjoy!

While I'm typing in my editor every once in a while Aptana RadRails will freeze up temporarily.  Just now it took about 40 seconds to process my keystroke!  Who develops this stuff?  Then again it does seem to be written in Java so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

8  General Category / Miscellaneous / Safeway $5 Deals!

I don't know if they have nationally but here Safeway have Friday 5-dollar deals!  They are good!

American Sub for $5 feeds me for a few meals.  My favorites is the fried chicken and the turkey pot roast.  The sub and roast chicken are good too.  Each week they have something for $5 on Friday, good deal for 5 bucks.  Just Fridays.  We live in the SF Bay Area peninsula so I don't know if it's everywhere the same.

This sounds like Safeway ad but it's not!  I like Costco food court too.

Ok I think I found some black magic to make this better.  After trying to go to Properties and Customize and all sorts of things like that, here's what you can try:

- Right click in a blank area of the folder (not on a picture directly) then View and look for Hide File Names.  Make sure it is unchecked.
- If you don't see this option, go to Properties (on that same right-click menu) and then Customize and select Pictures and Videos.  Now there should be a Hide File Names option under right-click, View.
- If all that fails try switching to another folder and Shift+Clicking back on the bad folder in the folder list.  I'm not joking.  Oh, you probably will need to do this several times.  The file names should come back after 2-4 of those Shift+Clicks.  Sadly, still not joking.

Is this really the way it's supposed to work?  I can just see some idiot software designer saying, "Oh it would be nice to have a view where the filenames don't mess up the nice layout of pictures.  But we need to have it switch on and off automatically!  And hide the option for it in some obscure right-click submenu that only appears sometimes!"

10  General Category / Miscellaneous / HP laptop wireless don't work
 on: 12/22/09 at 07:28:12

After my problems with the HP OfficeJet, now my HP laptop is not working so well. The wireless often doesn't work. I don't mean it can't get a signal it's like it's not there at all. Other times it works fine. Nowadays I'd say about 80% of the time it doesn't work in my house.

I googled around and quite a lot of people had similar problems with this model (Pavilion dv6xxx). Some called HP many times and eventually got a new motherboard, after getting a runaround. I decided to skip that nonsense and just got a USB wireless, a Medialink MWN-USB54G which worked great right out of the box, even on Ubuntu Linux.

It's sad that HP can't make a good laptop. All our other laptops have no problems at all with their wireless connections, just the HP, and for a laptop to have broken wireless makes it pretty useless. I had to borrow someone else's computer once because the stupid HP's wireless wasn't working that day.

I'm not sure why I bought from HP again after the OfficeJet problems.  There's an old saying in Texas, "Fool me once..."
